Rift Review!

Finally got some time till I have to clean the little crap out of my old place to write up a review.

Like i said in a previous post this game is basically what made a ton of ppl go out a preorder warhammer online. The game has delivered everything that it has promised to its players.  In the three different beta events I have been in the devs have improved the game by listening to all the feed back they have received.  I had to go back and lvl another character to see just ho much has changed.

Class wise there are 4 major classes which are warrior, cleric, rogue and mage.  With each class there are so far 7 different sub classes you can mix and match to go with it with others either hidden or unlocked from pvp.  For example my warrior is a champion(MS warrior from wow) Riftblade(thane from DAoC) and a voidknight (mage tank class).  The skills you gain with the 3 different combos depends on where you put your "talent" points.  As you put points up a tree you unlock skills depending on how many you put in said tree.  You can mix and match all of them to make some really unique character builds.  They also have the option for people to have different class set ups to change their class role when ever you want.  The build above i've been using for pvp, I have another soul set for tanking and dps.  So far no class is OP or UP.  I have saw everyone playing everything.

Rifts are now AWESOMEOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG.  I've said before that these will open up and start taking over the land and towns. These events are public quest from warhammer online but so much better.  Now players can call in reinforcements from their side to attack and take over towns of the other faction.  Invasions are now hella hard at times.  Leaving a rift open for so long will let more and more mobs pour into the area and they will attack!  There are a ton of different type of invasion mobs depending on the lvl area they spawn in.  Last night i fought in a group with 2 raid rift mobs.  Took 20 of us around 5-10 mins to kill both of these with the other faction trying to wipe us and take the mob for themselves.  Rewards from this is collectible items you turn in for quest, elemental currency you use for buying some decent items and elemental consumables they have come in handy so many times for me.

The instances so far have been great.  They start off being a little challenging for players until you get your 1st run over with and know the fights.  They all have great rewards and once you finish all the quest you can still earn end rewards in gold and exp.  Instance grinding got a ton better with this.  If you don't like instances you need to do it at least once because as you level you will return back to these and they will be different and bigger as you progress in the game.  At the end of each of the instances that are out you can see a ton of things unavailable to you.

Questing is the usual go kill x x times or collect x of x.  That always blows but its really hard to get away from this type of game play.  The good news with this is after the 1st beta they turned the spawn rates way up so if a area is way over populated with people you wont be sitting there fighting for mobs or collects forever.  Feels like they found a good balance with this.  You go in kill the mobs while not raging at people tagging from you and move to the next quest.  The spawns are not fast so that your swarmed with a ton of mobs going on you but you wont be waiting for 2-3+mins for a mob to pop.

Death in this game is fairly cool.  You die and have the option to either soul walk or res at a graveyard.  Every time you do either your soul vitality will drop and you will start to lose stat points till you recover them from a healer npc.  Of course there is still resurrection from your buddies.  No more OMG THIS LONGASSWALKISTAKINFOREVERSOMEONESHOOTME!!!!

"flight paths" are now teleporting to different major cities instead of riding a few mins as you go fix a drink or take a piss/shit.  They are not all over the place so you will still need to walk/ride there.

Crafting is cool. Right now its wowish with how you craft and collect resources. But as you level you can add in items you gain from doing rifts to boost stats in your crafted items.  If i remember right they have all the crafting classes from wow in game with some slight and big differences. No engineering but alchemy can make potion bombs which i freaking love to use.

Now for the newest thing i've been doing nonstop with my few available hours i have.  PVP!!!!  Finally it is in and love it so far.  With 2h sword in hand i have cleaved 50 guardians solo, the other 200ish have been in group pvp.  With no bgs in game yet there is nothing to do but good ol world pvp but unfortunately for me this means we have been camping their capital gates and try to lure them out.  With my guild we held the guardians down for hours on end as will fought invasions and reinforcements trying to get those cowardly guardians out of their capital.

Group pvp is as you would imagine for open world. 2 sides clash together and try to kill the others healers before they and their healers die.  After sitting and killing for a long time the guardians will eventually zerg up and rush us and use their graveyard next to the entrance to keep the zerg flowing.

So far its been really exciting and at other times boring trying to bait out groups to fight.  Once we had just a couple ppl out in the open as we flanked them after they got brave with a 20+ v 5 fight.

Graphic wise this game is beautiful.  Thanks to my crap vista soon to be w7 computer i haven't been able to play with high graphics but did play long enough to enjoy them.  Been hovering around low-mid atm but the game still looks great.

Sounds are great cept i'm tired of npcs clapping and cheering for the heroes.  As a side note i've noticed that all game have the sound maxed out all to hell.  You can't start a game anymore without taking a shot to the ears as the max sound settings rape you.

Story is cool. World is going to go into armageddon if you don't stop the big bad guy.  Guardians believe that the gods will help them fight back and the defiant believe that the world will only be saved with their technology. With me being low lvl there isn't really much to tell other then this. But who listens to story the 1st time playing when all you want to do is max lvl and pvp with your buddies.

This game is prolly the only thing that is keeping me interested the in MMO world.  I really think that this one is going to shine and not be a massive failure like so many new mmos are.

Finally back!

XMAS is finally over, work is finally slowing down and i'm all moved back in at parents house till the fall for school.  Been a nice little break from the online world but now i'm back but will wait till the 3rd beta event is over for a bigass review of rift.  This week pvp will be rocking so i'm pumped to all hell for that!

FINALLY!!!!!!!!  This is old news by now maybe but I am still pumped as all hell!  I have been playing these games since arena.  OH U DIDNT LIKE OBLIVION? Thats because you got it on your trash console or were to ignorant to mod it on pc.  Just a few mods and this game becomes flawless.  I ended up making mine harder then all hell with combat tactics and crap.  I have 1 mod away from auto crashing the game lol.

and holy crap snow is everywhere and its still snowing!  Last year it was still summer basically but this year is a actual winter.  freaking love it

Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter

Just finished this book and was fairly good. The author does a real nice job filling in the gaps of what happens between abe's public history and his night life. If the title wasn't obvious enough for you the book is about lincoln being a vampire hunter and his political war against them. The book is very entertaining when the author is filling in gaps missing from history such as the Roanoke disappearance. Book really wasn't great but it wasn't bad at all. I enjoyed it and it is a very easy read. I did rage with vamps out in the daylight. I'm just too old fashion for these new age vampires. I miss my World of Darkness type vamps.

Winter Is Coming!

If anyone was read the song of ice and fire series you know that the 5th book will never come out since the author has been writing this baby for like 3+ years or something.  But good news is April is when the series for the 1st book will come out on HBO and i'm freaking pumped as all hell.  One of my fav book series that i'm dying for the author to finish the 5th book and then wait another few years for the next 2.  Check out the trailer and behind the scenes!

No real post today.  Been busy as all hell packing and get everything is order for the move.  Got a chance to sit down and play the monster known as urgot.  This hero is prolly one of the worst in game atm but i have been raping noobs all day with him.  worst record was 8-4-8 so far.  He really isn't that bad as people think.  I 2v1 a tyrn and malphite earlier,  morons fed me like crazy.  He is prolly trash as all hell in ranked is elementz prolly doesn't even have his ass on the list he is so bad with competative.

Sins of a Solar Empire

Got to check this game out last night with a few friends and holy shit this is a awesome game.  Its like what master of orion 3 should of been!  God now i'm sad they killed that series i spent 100's of hours playing the 1st 2.

Well anyways sins really is a great game.  You start with a home planet and need to expand your empire and your fleets to protect your systems.  The best part of this game is playing with friends.  I'm not sure how many of you played risk or civilization the board game with a few ppl but those games can last for hours.  This game with 3 ppl, 2 of which had experience with the game lasted almost 3 hours.  Us 3 vs normal computers.  I can't freaking wait to get 10 actual players in this.  Games will last for ever.  Sounds long right?  It didn't feel like 3 hours at all.  I didn't know that time passed till we were looking at the end score screen.

Long freaking day

Haven't stopped till now today.  Finally got a job at sears with meh pay but tons of hours.  Job is a job and i'll be making more then what i have on unemployment so thats all kinds of fucking awesome.  Enough to get me to college after this semister and hopefully transfer up there with a job.  Moving back home kinda sucks but i'll be saving 600 a month till i'm back into school.

Trying my best to get back into the swing of things with real post but its going rough.  Gonna sleep in tomorrow and see if i can get a relaxing day in.

Rift: Invasion

After the servers came up last night with their 10 mins of downtime for a patch and tweaking the rift spawns the game world got so much more interesting. After leaving the 1st dungeon that is open to us in beta right now we notice on the map that the rifts have opened up and are pouring out mobs and they are taking over towns! Bastard elemental and undead monsters are running wild in the world and pushing toward the capital city! We ran to meet the head of the invasion only to meet easily 300+ mobs going balls crazy on everything in sight. I spent the next few hours pushing the invasion back and closing the rifts. I have no idea how those babies opened up like that and no one killed them. I think most of us at the beta cap were doing instance runs and didn't close the high lvl rifts, so they went crazy on the world.

After we finally closed them up the dev shut the server down to increase the rift spawn rate since everyone gave good feedback on them. Been spending all day questing and fighting these rifts. Game doesn't feel like a grind any more when you almost have to do the public quest or at least check to see people are there to defend the world. If no one is there get ready to see a army moving in on your ass and they will kill you and the mob your attacking and then your quest giver.

Whats really neat is if 2 different plane invasions meet they will fight each other for the right to take towns and land. Water and death clashed last night. When a plane invades it changes the land to make it more like where it came from as it moves out. Death left a barren spiky land with creep from SC looking ground. Water left a ocean coral reef looking stuff behind.

This game is really awesome and can't wait till they open pvp to beta testers. Devs were talking on a pod cast about one side will be able to cross into another and open a rift to distract the other side while they attack somewhere else. Open pvp is back and going to be awesome as hell.

Rift VIP beta keys might be available soon, i'll hold a contest or 1st come 1st served deal i dunno yet. Just depends on if some friends want them or not. I'll keep you all informed about it.

Rift beta cont

Day 2 of Rift beta and this game is prolly the best that I have played in a very long time. This beta has gone smoother then any release lunch I have experience. This game is more complete than any mmo has been since I can't remember. I have played them all since MUDS and into Ultima and this jewel is as now ready to ship now. Devs have been on the ball with fixed and low server down time. Longest we had to wait for a down time for server patch was 15 mins. For real patches and updates the longest we waited was about 20ish mins.

I can't reveal much about this game due to TOS and because I actually love this game and the devs who have been on the ball with it. I'll inform ppl who don't know what has already been made public just as a general info with stuff I really like.

There are 4 major classes you choose at the start. Warrior, rogue, mage, and cleric. From there they split into about 10 different classes per major. With those you can have a combo of 3 at a time to make a really unique character. There are a TON of different builds people will be able to create. I've messed with the 3 different trees I chose to play on my warrior and all are amazing and there isn't really a cookie cutter build you must follow to have a strong character in this game. As your character progresses you will learn more classes to add to your character and have a ton of different specs. No more with you people who have say 2 different priest with all the different specs.

Public quest
This was made in war and done oh so freaking right in rifts. During your adventures random rifts will tear into the land and open portals to the different planes. At that point people all across the zone will come to help push the invasion back. At the end everyone will get a reward based on how much they contributed to the attack. Rewards are collectibles turned in at the major city for a ton of different things. If players don't respond to the rifts the mobs will get stronger and more will come. They will then push out and attack nearby towns.

G2G servers back online. Those are some of the huge things that I have really liked with the game and will write more on it later.

I haven't been around last 2 days to read what everyone has been into and I will get back to that tomorrow or the next day when beta ends!

Rift Beta!!!!!!!!!!!

FINALLY!!!!! First beta weekend starts at 1 est today!  Net is finally working and I got nothing at all to do the rest of the day.  I'll Tell everyone how it goes without breaking to much NDA.  Also might have a few extra VIP keys for people interested in playing.  Finally a game that will be polished and finished at launched instead of 6+ months later like age and conan and war.  Check out this vid!

League of Legends Rant


For anyone who is or has ever played dota and its clones your either the children who are trash or like me hating almost everyone playing this game.  These games are not hard to play. Right click + 4 buttons = the most difficult game for most people to comprehend.  Even with the group of ppl I game with a new person will show up and ask about the game.  Some retard who can't play will say its really hard man.  I called the dude stupid and refused to play with him last night.  Am I being the kid now? Fucking right bitch and not a fuck was given.  Is this only on lol oh god no.  I would much rather play dota but your average dota game goes like this: FIRST BLOOD - PLAYER LEFT - GG team leaves - EVERYONE ADDED TO BAN LIST DON'T WORRY THEY WILL NEVER PLAY AGAIN.  Play a league? hell no if something comes up and i have to leave the game or you get a dc your not playing in a league again for a long time.  I miss playing HoN but the people in that game are almost as bad and sometimes the same shit happens liek in dota.  At least there I can voip harass people as i rape a team with the current OP hero HoN is featuring.

What really is starting to annoy me in lol is that if i'm solo and don't pick twitch then my team will more then likely lose.  Sometimes i will be with 2-4 other competent people and the game will be great.  That happens every few days or so.  I went from finally being out of the "ELO hell" down to 1100 because people are stupid.  Yeah you will have your off days when playing, but having a negative score 10-20 mins in a game isn't a off day your just fucking bad

This week is going to be 100% a nightmare with shaco being free.  Already had 3 of them last night 4 lvls below everyone else in the jungle and doing nothing with ganks and team fights with their base boots and blood razor.

Any ways want to play with someone who knows how to play this game and wont feed the other team?  Will actually gank from mid and the jungle? OR LIKES TO PICK FUCKING TANK WHEN A TEAM NEEDS ONE BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST AS FUN AND RAPAGE AS THE DPS CARRY YOUR ENTIRE NOOB TEAM PICKED?  Add me to your friend list and lets go win some games.
